Former BRS MLA Guvvala Balaraju from Achampet constituency in Nagarkurnool district has joined the BJP in the presence of state president N Ramachandra Rao and Rajya Sabha member Dr K Lakshman at the BJP state office in Nampally, Hyderabad on Sunday. Guvvala, along with his followers and several leaders from the constituency, attended the function and accepted BJP membership.
Guvvala Balaraju resigned from the BRS a few days ago. He expressed deep dissatisfaction over the party leadership’s lack of response and lack of due priority regarding the attack on him.
On this occasion, Ramachander Rao said that BJP is becoming an alternative in Telangana state, and Bala Raju, who has won as an MLA twice, has recognized this and is joining BJP attracted by the good governance being done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the poor and weaker sections of the people and for the development of the country.
He expressed confidence that Bala Raju will work to strengthen the BJP party not only in the Atanchampet area but also throughout Telangana. He reminded that while BJP had secured 13.9 percent vote share in the last 2023 Assembly elections in Telangana and its vote share had increased by more than 36 percent in the 2024 Parliament (Lok Sabha) elections.
While BJP had won 8 MP seats, BRS did not get a single seat in the Lok Sabha elections, and the party’s situation had reached zero. Moreover, he said that it had also secured 2 seats in the recently held MLC elections. Ramachandra Rao expressed hope that Telangana will become the “Gateway of Telangana” for the BJP in the coming days, and Guvvala Balaraju joining the party is proof of that.
Stating that he had travelled 3500 km in 16 districts in the first month he took charge as the BJP Telangana state president, he expressed happiness that wherever he went, many MPPs, former MPTCs, former Sarpanches and others had joined the party. He said that people in all districts were voluntarily joining the BJP, which was a proof of people’s trust.
