Municipal Minister Dr. P Narayana revealed that the Singapore government has come forward to provide cooperation to Amaravati in collaboration with the World Bank. Dr Narayana, who toured Singapore with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, stay back even after conclusion of CM’s visit and continued key discussions with several officials there.
Dr Narayana recalled that between 2014-19, we had entered into agreements with companies in Singapore that had majority shares, and the previous government had canceled that agreement and sent CID officials to investigate. He deplored that this has damaged the relations between AP and that government.
Stating that Chandrababu’s team went on a trip to Singapore only to restore those relations, he said that the Singapore government officials responded very positively to this. The name of Singapore, which once gave a master plan for the construction of the capital of Amaravati in AP and made several agreements to participate in other works, is not heard this time.
In this context, CM Chandrababu, Ministers Narayana and Lokesh, who recently visited Singapore, made efforts to lobby with the companies there. However, even after Chandrababu’s visit to Singapore was completed, everyone felt that the lobbying was unsuccessful as there was no announcement from the government. But, Dr Narayana’s announcement reveals that Singapore is ready to take part in Amaravati development, but in a different form.
He also said that the CM had invited Singapore companies to come to the partnership meeting to be held in Visakhapatnam. Later, it was revealed that the CRDA Commissioner would write an official letter to the Singapore government and then hold talks. In the statements made by the government so far, it has been said that even if the Singapore consortium cannot cooperate with the capital this time, it will provide support for the construction here.
Now Narayana has also decided that there will be only technical cooperation. In fact, during the previous Chandrababu government, the Singapore consortium, which came to share in the construction of Amaravati, was also offered the lands given by the farmers here at that time. However, during the Jagan regime, in the context of the establishment of three capitals in the place of Amaravati, the agreement with the Singapore consortium was canceled. With this, Singapore left Amaravati.
