TTD Chairman BR Naidu has refuted the former Chief Secretary LV Subramaniam’s criticism of the implementation of the Artificial Intelligence policy in TTD to ensure that devotees have quick darshan in Tirumala.
He said that keeping in mind the problems of devotees of Tirumala Srivari in the queue complexes, it has been decided to provide devotees with the help of AI to have darshan of Srivari within the specified time with the help of AI.
Naidu explained that for this, it has been decided in the Governing Council meeting to take the cooperation of Google and TCS along with other IT companies. TTD said that it has been decided to implement the AI policy only to provide darshan to devotees of Srivari at the specified time and to inform the devotees of the darshan time in advance.
By informing the devotees of the darshan time in advance, the devotees should not have to wait for a long time in the compartments. TTD Chairman BR Naidu said that the idea was to see that other temples can be visited at that time.
He deplored that it is sad LV Subramaniam to talk about artificial intelligence technology without understanding it. He felt that it is not reasonable for a person like LV Subramaniam, who worked as a senior officer in the government, to say that AI technology is not useful in Tirumala.
The TTD Chairman deplored that such comments are likely to create confusion among the devotees of Srivari. He wondered about finding fault when TTD is getting such services at free of cost from donors without any waste of its resources. He said that he is leaving this issue to the discretion of LV Subramaniam.
He asserted that TTD has decided to use AI only to inform the devotees about the darshan time slowly. But, he advised LV Subramaniam that it is not reasonable to say that AI technology should be abandoned.
Earlier, speaking to the media after visiting Tirumala Srivari on Sunday morning, LV Subramaniam said that it is impossible for ordinary devotees to have darshan in two to three hours. He concluded that quick darshan would be difficult even with the use of AI technology.
He said that there was no possibility of changing the darshan of Srivari beyond the current system. He advised that it would not be good to waste TTD money on the use of artificial intelligence in Tirumala.
