Former TTD Chairman Bhumana strongly objects TTD Issuing Notices To Mathas on Tirumala

Former TTD chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy has strongly objected to the TTD issuing notices to about 32 Mathas on Tirumala hill, which have been operating for a long time to protect Hinduism, asking them to take security measures. He questioned why such notices were not issued to a large number of guest houses prevailed on Tirumala hill, which are run by wealthy people.

He alleged that issuing notices to the Mathas on Tirumala hill, which promote and protect Hinduism, is an insult to the heads of the Mathas. He alleged that the notices, which say that CCTV cameras should be installed and that deadly weapons, prohibited items and explosives should be checked, are merely raising doubts about the management of the Mathas.

He said that both Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan, who are claiming that they would protect Hindu religion and that they were brand ambassadors for the protection of Hindu religion, should answer this. The notices stated, “You should appoint security guards. You should have doors on only one side of the monastery. It is not possible to have doors on all sides. Roof guards should be installed.”

Notices were issued asking to install CCTV cameras on all sides of the compound, covering all floor corridors, at the entry, exit, parking, corridors, stairs, and elevators. If all this is a tall order, the notices issued to the monasteries also asked them to check for weapons, prohibited items, and explosives.

The police, who suggested that the backup of the CCTV cameras be kept for three months, ordered them to provide all that information without fail when they asked. The notices stated that the details of every person visiting the Matham should be recorded and that the details should be provided to the police along with ID cards.

They warned the Mathas that legal action will be taken under the Police Public Safety Measures Act 2013 if these rules are not followed. They said that a fine of Rs. 5,000 will be imposed for the first time for violating these rules and that the DSP will close the Matham altogether if it violates it for the second time. Notices signed by the Station House Officer were sent to all of them.
