Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government has expedited the Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada metro rail projects following cabinet approval for funding. On Friday, the Andhra Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with consultancy firms SYSTRA and TYPSA for project supervision and technical assistance, in the presence of Municipal Administration Minister Narayana.
He stated that Phase 1 of both metro projects would be completed within three years. For the Visakhapatnam Metro, tenders have been issued for 46.23 km under Phase 1, with another 30 km planned in Phase 2. Tenders for the Vijayawada Metro will be invited within two days, the minister added.
