Director Gowtam Tinnanuri has revealed that a major portion of the upcoming spy action drama Kingdom, starring Vijay Deverakonda, was shot in Sri Lanka. Speaking at a promotional event alongside Vijay and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Gowtam stated that the team filmed for nearly 40 days in Sri Lanka with the support of the country’s army, which provided access to military vehicles and weaponry. He emphasized his preference for real locations over visual effects, aiming to deliver a grounded cinematic experience.
Vijay Deverakonda, reflecting on the film’s journey, said that although the idea to work with Gowtam first came up before Pelli Choopulu, it materialized only with Kingdom. Sharing his changed perspective on filmmaking, Vijay remarked that he no longer believes in predicting the audience’s response and now leaves the film’s fate to viewers post-release. He expressed full trust in Gowtam’s storytelling, revealing that he signed the film even before hearing the full script.
Produced by Sitara Entertainments, the film also stars Bhagyashree Borse and Satya Dev in key roles. Kingdom is set to hit screens worldwide on July 31.
