SJ Suryah has recently been captivating Telugu audiences with his intense and layered villainous performances, showcasing a fresh, darker side to his acting. His role as a psycho antagonist in Mahesh Babu’s Spyder received widespread praise, where he matched the lead actor’s energy and screen presence remarkably well. Last year, he made a strong impact playing a negative role as a police officer in Nani’s Saripodhaa Sanivaaram.
SJ Suryah, in 2025, continued to venture into gripping villainous roles in big releases like Ram Charan’s Game Changer, playing a wrong politician, and Indian 2, playing a rich villain. Though his acts were criticically acclaimed, apart from Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, all these ventures failed to make an impact at the box office.
Having won critical acclaim for his villainous roles, SJ Suryah is now embarking on a new dangerous mission to play the central hero in his next movie Killer, which he is also directing. The film is being shot on pan-India lines with versions in Telugu, Tamil, and other languages. Preethi Asrani plays the lady lead opposite him.
The producers have released first-look posters featuring SJ Suryah in a sleek detective look, holding a gun next to a sports car, as well as a second poster, where he is effortlessly lifting the heroine in a red saree over his shoulder that promises an attention-grabbing mix of action and romance. The film currently has no release date announced and is still on the sets.
While SJ Suryah’s villainous performances have garnered him appreciation, the box office success has remained minimal. Now, the fans and industry professionals alike eagerly await to see whether this changeover to a leading role will yield him the breakthrough that he is seeking. With a pan-India release planned for it, Killer is set to be the watershed moment of SJ Suryah’s career.
