Producer Naga Vamsi, currently promoting his upcoming film Kingdom starring Vijay Deverakonda and directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, has candidly addressed the highs and lows of his filmmaking journey. The film, also featuring Bhagyashree Borse and Satyadev, is set to release on July 31.
Reflecting on earlier missteps, Vamsi stated, “We made two costly mistakes—Ranarangam and Aadikeshava. With Ranarangam, Babai warned us that Sharwa may not suit the aged role, but neither Sudheer nor I listened. Ravi Teja might have been a better fit. The audience wasn’t convinced by Sharwa’s transformation into a don. Regarding Aadikeshava, we tried to correct it post-production, but genre inconsistencies impacted the film. These were expensive lessons.”
He also highlighted an ongoing industry concern—high food prices at multiplexes. “Spending ₹1,200 for two popcorns and drinks is unreasonable. A common man can’t afford it. We plan to appeal to the Telugu state governments to regulate these prices. Local theater owners might cooperate, but national chains won’t. Only government intervention can ensure a solution,” he added.
On the release of Hari Hara Veera Mallu, starring Pawan Kalyan, Vamsi said there is no clash with Kingdom. “It’s a big film, especially with Pawan Kalyan returning as Deputy CM. On the release day, all 10 screens in a city might be allotted to it. But by the next week, 4–5 screens will free up, which is enough for us. We’ve already postponed Kingdom multiple times, and further delay would impact our OTT plans,” he concluded.
