In a major development linked to the ongoing Andhra Pradesh liquor scam investigation, YSR Congress Party MP Peddireddy Mithun Reddy was arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Saturday. He has been named the fourth accused (A4) in what is emerging as one of the most significant corruption scandals in the state.
Mithun Reddy appeared at the SIT office in Vijayawada for questioning, where he was reportedly grilled for nearly seven hours. After the intense interrogation process, officials from SIT formally arrested him. His family members have been contacted, and officials have confirmed that he would be produced before a magistrate on Sunday.
Prior to his arrest, Mithun Reddy had sought anticipatory bail from both the Andhra Pradesh High Court and the Supreme Court, but both pleas were dismissed. With no legal shield remaining, the MP attended the summons issued by the SIT, which eventually led to his arrest.
The AP liquor case has been under the spotlight for months, with allegations pointing to a massive illegal liquor network involving key figures. Mithun Reddy’s arrest marks a significant step in the SIT’s probe as they continue to unravel the depth of the liquor scam and the involvement of political heavyweights.
