Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s repeated claims that he would continue as Chief Minister has been creating a storm within Telangana Congress. Discontent MLAs and party leaders are up in arms against his `self-declaration’.
While Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy has openly raised his protests objecting Revanth Reddy’s claims, many more MLAs, including some ministers are expressing their anger over his `self-styled’ attitude. Revanth Reddy made these comments while addressing a large public meeting organized there on Friday during his visit to Jataprolu village in Pentlavelli mandal of Nagarkurnool district.
Rajagopal Reddy in a post on X, said that it is against the policies of the Congress party. In the national party like Congress, he said that the Chief Minister will be elected democratically as per the orders of the high command. He warned that the clear Congress leaders and workers will not tolerate attempts to turn the Telangana Congress into a personal empire.
He has been unhappy since then after being disappointed with the ministerial post in the recent cabinet expansion. Recently, during Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s visit to Hyderabad though he was invited for a ‘face to face’ meeting with him, he did not attend.
Rajagopal Reddy has made comments targeting Revanth Reddy on several occasions since the time of the Munugodu bypoll. Komatireddy has made key comments on many occasions since Revanth became the PCC chief. The situation changed for some time after Rajagopal Reddy joined the Congress, became an MLA and Revanth became the Chief Minister.
Later, he spoke in the assembly and outside praising Revanth. Meanwhile, the tweet made now is once again causing a stir. Revanth had made similar comments in the past too. Although he was silent then, now Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy has responded to Revanth’s comments on social media.
Present Rajgopal Reddy’s criticism does not seem to be a mere spontaneous reaction, but many felt as a rebellion attitude not only against the Chief Minister, but also against the Congress leadership, which denied his claim of ministerial berth.
