CM Chandrababu Naidu said that he will focus on the construction of a Green Hydrogen valley in Amaravati. Attending the two-day summit being held at Mangalagiri SRM as the chief guest, he said that he strongly wants radical changes to be made in the energy sector.
“In the past, electricity was not even good. Many villages did not have electricity facilities. MLAs used to speak loudly in the assembly on the issues of power cuts and low voltage. I first implemented electricity reforms in 1999. We aimed to provide quality electricity to consumers”, he said.
However, he admitted that implementation of electricity reforms was one of the reasons why he lost power in 2004. After 2014, he recalled that he had given priority to solar and wind power generation. Due to this, he said electricity prices have come down significantly.
In 1995, electricity generation was started in Srisailam through the reverse pump method and it was useful in overcoming the high demand for electricity, he added. Naidu said that it is possible to provide electricity at the lowest cost with green hydrogen.
The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Modi has set a target of producing 500 gigawatts of green hydrogen by 2030 and asked for a majority share in this from AP as it has necessary facilities for the production and transportation of green hydrogen. He said that the Center and NTPC have taken steps towards the production of green hydrogen in Visakhapatnam.
Chandrababu said that his goal is to have a port every 50 kilometers along the coastal area of our state. He said that a target of 160 gigawatts of green hydrogen electricity production has been set and a battery storage system has been set up on a large scale. He announced that huge incentives will be given to green energy manufacturing companies.
“Companies like Reliance are investing in biogas production in the state. AP has many advantages in terms of green fuel production. Green hydrogen requires a lot of water. Being next to the sea is a good opportunity for us. We are setting up Quantum Valley in Amaravati as an artificial intelligence center”, he said.
In the same vein, Chandrababu announced that they have decided to set up Green Hydrogen Valley in Amaravati. The main purpose of Green Hydrogen Valley is also to protect nature. He asked the youth to focus on reducing the cost of fuel production. After the two-day conference, he said they will announce the Amaravati Green Hydrogen Declaration.
