Actress Mrunal Thakur, widely recognized for her acclaimed performance in Sita Ramam, has opened up about a difficult phase in her early career, revealing that she once battled severe depression and even contemplated suicide due to a lack of acting opportunities. Her emotional remarks, made during a recent interview, have drawn significant attention within the film industry.
Reflecting on her early struggles, Thakur recalled the intense pressure she faced while trying to establish herself. “There was a time I thought about jumping in front of a local train,” she said. “But in that moment, my parents’ faces came to mind. Remembering them gave me the strength to step away from that thought.” She described the period as one of extreme emotional distress.
Thakur began her acting journey with television, gaining recognition through the series Kumkum Bhagya, before transitioning to films with notable performances in Super 30 and Jersey. However, her breakthrough in Telugu cinema came with Sita Ramam, which significantly boosted her popularity and cemented her status as a leading actress.
Currently, Thakur has over six projects lined up across Hindi and Telugu. Among them is the Telugu film Decoit, in which she stars opposite Adivi Sesh. The film is scheduled for release in December.
