Both TDP and YSRCP are known as bitter political enemies in Andhra Pradesh politics. Top leaders of these parties even refuse to talk to each other or participate in Assembly debates. But, surprisingly, both of them are now extending support to the controversial Indosol Solar Project.
Though farmers have been protesting against the government’s move for land acquisition for this project, both the parties are keeping silent and refuse to rescue farmers from this crisis. The project was originally initiated during YS Jaganmohan Reddy regime, which was strongly opposed by TDP leaders, but now the same TDP-led government is extending full support.
Even the TDP cadre is unable to understand this new found love towards this project among their top leadership. Moreover, top leaders in the opposition at that time like Nara Lokesh and Somireddy Chadanramohan Reddy criticized it as ‘fake investment’.
“Indosol, which was formed with a capital of lakhs of rupees, is investing Rs. 7200 crores. Its address is Pulivendula. All the agreements signed in this government are void,” Lokesh himself lashed out. The reason for this is that the Indosol company is owned by Shirdi Sai Electricals Company, which TDP leaders have accused of being a benami company of Jaganmohan Reddy.
Why is there a need to shower so much love now?. What are the strong reasons behind this?. Why is the government moving forward without compromising on Indosol even though farmers in Karedu village are saying that they will not give them lands that are their livelihood and where they grow many crops?
The state government is ready to give 8234 acres of land to this company by acquiring from farmers. The cabinet has already approved this. During Jagan’s tenure, TDP leaders who accused Shirdi Sai Electricals of allocating all the work starting from transformers are now standing in defense of that company.
As Nara Lokesh said, during Jagan’s tenure, MoUs were signed with fake companies, and now even in the coalition government, projects worth thousands of crores of rupees are being allocated to such companies in other sectors as well as power projects.
Although farmers are raising a large-scale agitation regarding the acquisition of Karedu lands, there is no response from the government leaders. Another strange thing here is that since Jaganmohan Reddy brought this company to the forefront, they are also remaining silent since the YSRCP government came into power.
