The high-octave Bollywood action thriller Kill is all ready to have a Tamil remake, and the word is already buzzing. The Hindi film, which was directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat and starred Lakshya in the lead role, generated a lot of noise with its raw action, punchy narration, and crazy fast pace. It was tremendously appreciated by audiences all over India and abroad and it was even more successful on OTT platforms due to the thrilling scenes and nail biting moments.
Now, Tamil film buffs have something to look forward to — Vikram’s son Dhruv Vikram has been signed to feature in the Tamil remake. The young actor was making waves with his debut film Adithya Varma and now is being noticed for opting for sansokhi and demanding roles. This time, he’s all set to portray a high-octane character requiring both emotional intensity and physical stamina.
The Tamil remake will be directed by Ramesh Varma, who has directed Telugu action movies such as Khiladi. Having had experience in making commercial entertainers, Ramesh is going to keep the suspenseful nature of Kill intact while making the required adjustments to make it appeal to the Tamil audience.
Like the original, the remake is expected to feature a violent and tense sequence of events in the context of a moving train. The script of the film is already being adjusted to be more regional, with the producers likely to report a supporting cast and title soon. Industry sources have clarified that the film is expected to offer a combination of high drama and suspenseful action, making it an experience to remember.
Meanwhile, Dhruv is finishing up his ongoing project, Bison, directed by renowned director Mari Selvaraj. Directed opposite Anupama Parameswaran, Bison is out on October 17. After that’s done, Dhruv will move on to the Kill remake.
What is interesting is Dhruv’s attitude towards his profession — he’s obviously more interested in performance-based, idea-driven scripts than in more common commercial fare. Sources say that the lead in the Kill remake is being reworked for Dhruv’s style of acting and, as a result, it could affect the perception of his status as an action hero.
