Vallabhaneni Vamsi Granted Bail In All Cases; Supreme Court Hearing May Affect His Release

YSRCP leader Vallabhaneni Vamsi has now secured bail in all the cases filed against him. The final pending case, related to allegations of issuing fake house site documents, was recently granted bail by the Nuzvid court. With this significant development, Vamsi is expected to be released from jail by Wednesday evening. He has been in custody since February 13.

However, there remains a crucial legal hurdle. In the illegal soil excavation case, the High Court’s vacation bench granted bail to Vamsi without the execution of the Prisoner Transit (PT) warrant. Both the state government and a complainant have filed petitions challenging this bail in the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court will hear these petitions Wednesday. If it grants an order to enforce the PT warrant then Vamsi will be held in custody for additional days. If the court denies the enforcement portion, he should be released on bail. It’s important to note that once he gets out on bail, re-arresting him would be an uphill battle unless revokes his bail.

Following the change in government with TDP coming to power, no immediate action was taken against Vamsi despite serious charges, including the attack on the TDP office in Gannavaram. Reports suggest attempts were made to influence the case by pressuring witnesses and colluding with some agencies. Nevertheless, police proceeded with Vamsi’s arrest.

Vamsi is behind bars for more than four and a half months. He kept complaining of his health while in prison and took the mandatory medical check-ups. The doctors, however, reassured that his condition was stable, and thus bail on grounds of medical conditions was not allowed.

The Supreme Court hearing decision will be important in deciding whether Vallabhaneni Vamsi will be out soon or will be kept in custody for an extended time.
