Rashmika Mandanna Speaks on Career Choices, Denounces On-Screen Smoking

Actress Rashmika Mandanna, who continues to deliver back-to-back hits in both South and Hindi cinema, recently participated in the ‘We the Women’ event where she shared insights into her professional journey and personal principles. Fresh off the success of Kuberaa, the actress made it clear that she does not support smoking in real life or on screen.

“Personally, I do not endorse smoking and I prefer not to act in such scenes. This is my individual choice. If a role demands it, I am willing to step away from the project,” Rashmika stated, highlighting that she follows her own set of rules while selecting films.

The actress also addressed criticism surrounding her recent film Animal, stating, “I view cinema as cinema. If you think a film may have a negative impact, you are free to watch what aligns with your values. No one is forced to watch every film. If that were the case, every film would be a blockbuster.”

She added that every person has different sides to their personality, which director Sandeep Reddy Vanga chose to portray in Animal. “Audiences accepted the film and it performed well commercially. As actors, we portray roles — they are not reflections of our personal lives,” she clarified.

Rashmika also remarked on the dynamics of the industry, noting that while it may appear easy to achieve stardom as an actress, maintaining long-term success is far more challenging.
