Acclaimed Tamil filmmaker Vetrimaaran has dismissed ongoing speculation about a fallout with actor Dhanush. The rumours surfaced after reports suggested that the director would be collaborating with actor Silambarasan (Simbu) for his next film, instead of Dhanush. Addressing the controversy, Vetrimaaran clarified that there are no differences between him and Dhanush and expressed disappointment over the misinformation circulating online.
Providing clarity on his upcoming projects, Vetrimaaran said, “The film *Vaadi Vaasal* with Suriya has been delayed due to various reasons. During this period, I narrated a story to Simbu, which he liked and agreed to immediately. Dhanush, in fact, is producing this film.” He explained that while the story is set in the world of *Vada Chennai*, it is not a sequel to the 2018 film.
Vetrimaaran further pointed out that the full rights to *Vada Chennai* remain with Dhanush. “I discussed the new project with him, and he had no objections. He even promised to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) without asking for any compensation. Unfortunately, some are misinterpreting the situation and spreading false claims of a rift,” he said.
The director also acknowledged Dhanush’s continued support, revealing that the actor provided financial assistance during a recent difficult phase. “Dhanush has never interfered in my work. When I faced financial challenges, he extended help by offering an advance,” he said. Vetrimaaran also noted that both Dhanush and Simbu share a cordial relationship and are enthusiastic about the upcoming collaboration.
