Agreements for investments worth Rs 10,328 crore were signed in the tourism conclave held in Vijayawada in the presence of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh . Many private companies have come forward to set up hotels and resorts in major cities in the state. With the coalition government granting industrial status to the tourism sector and providing attractive subsidies and incentives, many companies are queuing up for the state.
A total of 82 agreements were signed in the tourism conclave, through which investments worth Rs. 10,328 crore will come in. These will provide employment opportunities to about 22,325 people. Agreements were signed for 47 hotels and 3 amusement parks. The investment value of these is Rs. 10,059 crore. 32 other agreements were signed, through which investments worth Rs. 269 crore will come in.
Since there is a shortage of rooms in hotels in the state, more companies have come forward to set up hotels keeping in mind the future needs. Several companies have signed agreements with the Tourism Development Corporation at the tourism conclave held in Vijayawada.
Hotels and resorts will be set up in Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Amaravati, Nellore, Guntur and Machilipatnam. Radisson – Meglon will build hotels in Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and Polavaram with an investment of Rs 1,000 crore. Taj Chaitanya Infrastructure will set up a resort and amusement park in Konaseema with an investment of Rs 650 crore.
Myra Group and Marriott Group will set up hotels, resorts and convention centers in Visakhapatnam, Machilipatnam and Tirupati with an investment of Rs 450 crore each. The coastal area of the state will develop further in terms of tourism in the coming days. Several companies have already come forward to set up tourist ships from Visakhapatnam to other places.
Many will invest in water sports and adventure sports. Caravan is being introduced for the first time. A new policy will be introduced soon for this. Along with accommodation for tourists, caravans are being brought to take them to various tourist destinations. Several agreements have also been reached regarding home stays.
