Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan took a sharp dig at former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, alleging that his autocratic mindset remains unchanged. Addressing the public at the “One Year Celebrations” event in Amaravati — a gathering organized to commemorate one year of the NDA alliance rule — Pawan Kalyan accused the previous YSRCP administration of undermining core democratic values.
Pawan denounced Jagan’s previous comments about targeting opponents’ interests even abroad, calling them “deeply disturbing and unacceptable,” and stating that threats of this nature have no place in a democracy. “We are not frightened by threats or film-style dialogues. We have faced bigger challenges and can only come stronger.”
He emphasized that his strong words came from a place of responsibility and commitment to public service, not fear. Stressing the importance of integrity in governance, Pawan added, “We’re here to stay — for the long run — and to contribute meaningfully to a developed and corruption-free India.”
Remembering the previous government’s misuse of power, Pawan Kalyan remembered how even top leaders like Chandrababu Naidu were targeted unnecessarily. “Raising the voice seemed risky at that time. I was blocked in Visakhapatnam. The public endured silently and government machinery was helpless,” he stated.
He emphasized that such conditions prompted the creation of the NDA alliance in Andhra Pradesh — an initiative to restore confidence in governance as well as to safeguard democratic rights. Twelve months later, he added, the results are there for all to see.
Pawan emphasized the Government’s vision document, and said the coalition focuses on Vision 2047 for a Viksit Bharat. He mentioned many recent success stories including holding International Yoga Day in Visakhapatnam. He also congratulated Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for naming the mid-day meal scheme.
Guaranteeing the people that the government is making good on its promises, Pawan Kalyan enumerated major achievements like the increase in pensions, introduction of the Mega DSC for teacher recruitment, and the reopening of Anna Canteens. Being the Minister for Panchayat Raj, he also assured huge budgetary allocations to improve rural infrastructure and strengthen local self-governance.
