Medak BJP MP Raghunandan Rao was recently made to listen to a threatening phone call from a person who identified himself as a Maoist from Madhya Pradesh and told him that he would be killed by night. The MP’s personal assistant answered the call and promptly briefed Rao. Without losing any time, Rao made a video complaint to the top police officials, including the state DGP and Medak district SP.
The incident happened when Rao was at a function in a private school in Dammaiguda, Medchal district, leaving the locals apprehensive. On the complaint, police filed a case and initiated an inquiry. Officials are currently following the call source from phone records and sophisticated investigative tools.
BJP leaders have also spoken to Raghunandan Rao to ensure his safety and learn more about the threat. Having won the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Medak, Rao has been vocal against the ruling Congress as well as opposition BRS ever since, making this threat even more serious.
Following the threat, police have increased security details around the MP and are handling all leads seriously in an effort to secure his safety.
