Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK) Tony Blair has praised the priority given to sustainability in the Telangana development plan. He particularly expressed interest in key projects like Bharat Future City, Young India Skills University and Young India Sports University, initiated by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy paid a courtesy call on Tony Blair in New Delhi on Thursday. The meeting saw an hour-long analytical discussion on various key issues related to the state’s development. The Chief Minister explained the main aspects of the state’s future plan ‘Telangana Rising 2047’ to Blair.
He said that his government will officially release this vision document on December 9, 2025, on the occasion of its second anniversary. After his retirement, Tony Blair established the ‘‘Tony Blair Institute for Global Change’’ (TBI). The Tony Blair Institute is recognized as an organization that helps leaders around the world to formulate and implement concrete development strategies.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Telangana Government and the Tony Blair Institute at this meeting. This agreement will establish a bilateral partnership in the formulation and implementation of the ‘Telangana Rising 2047’ action plan.
In this meeting, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy explained the state government’s commitment to the comprehensive development of important social segments like farmers, youth and women, and introduced the micro planning perspective based on core urban, peri-urban and rural areas.
Along with the Chief Minister, Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, Members of Parliament Dr. Mallu Ravi, Raghuveer Reddy, Government Advisor Jitender Reddy, Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan and Executive Secretary Gaurav Uppal were present on this occasion.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has requested Union Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to grant permissions for Hyderabad Metro Phase-II at the earliest. He told the Union Minister that there is a great need for the 76.4 km long Metro Phase-II in the rapidly developing city of Hyderabad. He explained that they are ready to undertake this project worth Rs. 24,269 crore as a joint project with the Central Government.
