The AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, who is known as a bitter critic of TDP and also its chief Chandrababu Naidu, has surprisingly advised him to resign as Chief Minister, paving way for his son Nara Lokesh, as his political successor. Moreover, he accused Chandrababu of ruining the political future of his son Nara Lokesh.
It may be recalled that already Lokesh has emerged as a key `power center’ both in the government and also in TDP affairs. His influence in all key decisions is widely felt. More than half of TDP MLAs and also ministers are of his choice only.
Moreover, he is being projected as Chandrababu’s political successor in all possible ways. His photo is seen in all major campaign materials along with Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. Even so, Owaisi’s criticism of ruining his political future is surprising to many.
There seems to be a strong logic behind it, as Asaduddin Owaisi says. Owaisi’s comments are going viral at a time when there is a debate about who will take over the reins of TDP after Nara Chandrababu Naidu? Stating that already Chandrababu served as Chief Minister for over 15 years, he said it is high time for him to step down and provide leadership to the next generation.
He strongly refuted the view from a section of TDP leaders, that Junior NTR would be formidable leaders, who can take forward NTR’s legacy. Owaisi made it clear that the right leader for the TDP leadership is not Jr. NTR, as is being speculated in political circles, but Nara Lokesh.
Asaduddin Owaisi said that Jr. NTR cannot take over the post after Chandrababu and suggested that Lokesh should be handed over the responsibility as soon as possible. Otherwise, he cautioned that the future of TDP and Nara Lokesh’s political future will be ruined. It remains to be seen how TDP ranks will react to Owaisi’s comments.
On the other hand, there were many reports during the Mahanadu that Nara Lokesh would be handed over the leadership of the TDP, by making him as the Working President. Few months ago, there was a strong demand from TDP ranks to make Lokesh as Deputy Chief Minister.
