Genelia Clarifies Longstanding Rumours About Alleged Marriage with John Abraham on Film Set

Actress Genelia D’Souza has addressed persistent rumours regarding her alleged marriage to actor John Abraham during the filming of Force (2011), calling the claims completely unfounded. In a recent interview, she stated that the rumours were fabricated by certain PR agencies and held no truth whatsoever.

“There was a strong rumour years ago that John Abraham and I got married on the film set. It was purely a baseless story. We worked together on a project, and someone started this rumour saying a real priest officiated our wedding during a scene. But that never happened,” said Genelia. “I know who created these rumours, and they should be the ones answering why they did it,” she added.

The speculation emerged during the shooting of Force, which was released in September 2011. Reports at the time claimed that a wedding scene between the lead actors had inadvertently resulted in a real marriage, as the rituals were performed by an actual priest. The rumours gained traction among fans and were widely circulated on social media and entertainment platforms.

Genelia put an end to the speculation the following year by officially marrying actor and long-time friend Riteish Deshmukh in 2012. Since then, she has continued to appear occasionally in films. She will next be seen in Sitaare Zameen Par, starring Aamir Khan, which is scheduled for release on June 20.
