In a political turn of events, Telangana PCC Chief Mahesh Kumar Goud has come out in the open to express his discontent over senior ministers making early comments about the local body polls. His annoyance is over comments being made prior to the cabinet having an opportunity to sit together formally and decide on the poll schedule.
The row started when Minister Seethakka, in an internal party meeting with workers, only suggested that the schedule for the local body election could be released by the end of this month. Her words soon went viral on social media, and everyone was speculating wildly. Seethakka has since clarified that she had not given any particular date, adding that her motive was solely to motivate party workers to prepare for election readiness.
Pouring more oil into the fire, Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy made similar comments at a different meeting in Khammam. This again raised tensions, with Mahesh Kumar Goud questioning the suitability of ministers publicly commenting on such sensitive issues without cabinet agreement beforehand. He also expressed concerns that ministers were speaking out of turn on their areas of responsibility.
Goud was blunt—he called on ministers to use restraint and consult with party leadership prior to making public remarks, particularly on politically sensitive matters such as elections. He cautioned that unauthorized remarks not only cause confusion but might also harm the party’s image.
Reports from within the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) indicated that several complaints were filed, alleging some ministers of skipping procedure and announcing decisions outside their domain. This has allegedly compelled the PCC Chief to be more serious and corrective.
At the same time, Seethakka has reacted to the row for the second time, saying from the Command Control Center that she was misunderstood. She again stressed that she only spoke of election preparedness, not regarding the precise schedule of the polls. She also condemned parts of the media for dramatizing her words and causing confusion among party cadres and the public.
