The ISKCON Radhakrishna Temple in Kurma village under Hiramandalam mandal of Srikakulam district was completely burnt down in a fire accident a few days ago. The police are investigating whether it was an accident or if some miscreants deliberately set fire to it.
Prabhudas, one of the temple administrators, explained to the police that similar misdeeds have happened in the past as well. About Rs 50 lakh loss of property was estimated.
AP Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan expressed shock over the incident and said that it is unfortunate that Kurma village, which was designed to live with spiritual thoughts without modern amenities, has been burnt down. He said that the police have instructed the relevant machinery to conduct a thorough investigation into the fire.
He also ordered an investigation from that angle at a time when suspicions are being expressed about this incident. He said that he will talk to the district authorities about the current situation in Kurma village and provide them with the necessary assistance.

“The residents of Kurma village live in mud houses and practice natural farming, unlike the mechanical way of life. Children who study Vedic education speak Sanskrit, Telugu, Hindi and English fluently. We should focus on the revival of this village, which is unique in the present time,” Pawan clarified.
