Manchu Vishnu Reflects on ‘Kannappa’, Collaboration with Prabhas, Mohanlal, and Akshay Kumar

Actor Manchu Vishnu has shared insights about his upcoming mythological epic Kannappa, which is slated for release on June 27. Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, the film is a long-cherished dream project of Vishnu. In a recent interview, he revealed how his father, veteran actor Mohan Babu, encouraged him to pursue the film with conviction and helped identify the right director after watching the Mahabharat TV series.

“My father hugged me before the first shot and said the world should talk about Kannappa. He advised me to work with heart and ignore everything else,” Vishnu said, adding that the team worked with a vision to elevate Indian cinema globally.

Vishnu also spoke about working with star actors in the film. He described Mohanlal as one of his longtime idols and noted that several of his films were remade by his father. Despite not knowing Akshay Kumar personally, Vishnu said the actor agreed to join the project immediately. He referred to Prabhas as “like a brother,” stating they are in regular contact.

“These three actors were essential for the film’s grand opening, but it is the film itself that will ultimately speak,” he added. The film also features Kajal Aggarwal, Preity Mukundhan, and Mohan Babu in key roles. Meanwhile, the trailer release and pre-release event have been postponed due to the recent tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad.
