`Sakshi’ journalist Kommineni Srinivasa Rao Arrested In Row over Abusive Language Against Amaravati women

`Sakshi’ journalist and former AP Press Academy Chairman Kommineni Srinivasa Rao at his residence in Hyderabad Journalist Colony and took him to Amaravati on Monday. A case has been registered against him at the Thullur police station in Guntur district on the complaint of Amaravati farmers and women.

The police registered the case on the complaint of State Madiga Corporation Director Kambhampati Sirisha. Cases have been registered against Kommineni and another journalist Krishnam Raju on charges of making obscene comments against Amaravati women.

The police have also registered cases against Sakshi management under other sections including SC-ST atrocities. The police have named the management of Sakshi Channel as A3 in the FIR, Krishnam Raju as A1, and Kommineni as A2.

This morning, the AP police went to the residence of Kommineni  in a mufti. On this occasion, Kommineni was questioned about coming to the house without prior notice and search warrant. He alleged that the police did not answer.

Kommineni Srinivasa Rao deplored that the Red Book had reached him and questioned how he would be arrested as a senior journalist? If this is the case for senior journalists, what is the situation of the common people?, he asked. He said that he was not told who filed the case and accused trying to silence the voice of the anti-government.

In a discussion program hosted by Kommineni Srinivasa Rao on Sakshi channel, journalist Krishnam Raju made inappropriate comments about the women of Amaravati saying that Amaravati is not the capital of Gods but the capital of prostitutes. In fact, the news that came out in the media regarding sex workers is different.

Krishnam Raju did not link it to Amaravati and spoke, which led to criticism that he did this deliberately. Without denying these comments, Kommineni  continued the discussion. Sakshi management did not give a proper explanation, condemning neither Krishnamraju’s comments nor Kommineni’s behavior.

In this context, Amaravati women, public organizations, and journalistic associations have also filed several complaints with the police. The police are trying to catch journalist Krishnam Raju, who made inappropriate comments. On the other hand, the police received information that journalist Krishnam Raju is in Hyderabad as his house was locked in Vijayawada.

With this, special police teams from Vijayawada and Thullur went to Hyderabad to search for him. Women’s groups are expressing their anger at the two journalists who have not apologized even today despite massive protests.
