Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya’s autobiography ‘Prajalakathe Naa Atmakatha’ was launched by former President Ram Nath Kovind at the Shilpa Kala Vedika in Hyderabad on Sunday. Later, copies of the book were handed over to former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and retired CJI Justice NV Ramana.
Dattatreya has included a side of his 70-year life in this book. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Chandrababu praised Dattatreya as the epitome of a gentleman. He said that he is fondly called Dattatna and praised the way he rose from an ordinary activist to a national leader as an inspiration to everyone. He said that Dattatreya faced many struggles, movements and conflicts in his life.
Chandrababu revealed that Dattatreya’s name is Hindutva but his religion is Indian. ‘Dattatreya wanted public interest, his is secularism. What he followed was religious harmony. Dattatreya is credited with bringing all communities together in the name of Alai Balay. He who unites everyone has no enemies,’ he praised.
“Dattatreya does not have any political party. His is an ideal political life. He wrote letters to governments and CMs on public issues. He stood as an ambassador in writing letters. He worked tirelessly for the development of Hyderabad,” Chandrababu praised. Chandrababu said that he was united with the people of North and South India.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said that Dattatreya shared his connection with the people in his autobiography. He expressed happiness that the respect for Vajpayee and Dattatreya did not decrease despite holding many posts. He said that Dattatreya never lost touch with the people and it is rare to see so many governors on the same platform.
He praised Dattatreya for rising from Gowliguda Galli to become the Governor of Haryana, stating that PJR and Dattatreya are leaders who care about the hardships of the poor. Revanth Reddy recalled that he had recently told Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he did his schooling in BJP, college in TDP and job with Rahul Gandhi.
He said that they had only read about the unborn enemy in books, but when we look at Dattatreya, we see the unborn enemy right in front of us. He said that despite holding many posts in his life, he never distanced himself from the people, and despite facing many ups and downs in politics, Dattatreya never backed down.
Dattatreya said that he hopes to guide the youth towards public service with commitment and humility. He said it was a heartwarming account of his journey from ordinary life to the highest constitutional positions. He recalled that the values of empathy, dedication and service taught to him by his mother, the late Eshwaramma, have shaped his life and career.
