Vishal Loses Legal Battle Against Lyca Productions

Chennai: Tamil actor Vishal faced a major legal blow as the Madras High Court on Thursday directed him to pay ₹21 crore, including 30% interest, to Lyca Productions. The verdict marks a crucial development in the financial dispute between the actor and the production house, which has been ongoing for several years.

The case stems from a 2016 agreement wherein Vishal borrowed ₹15 crore from Lyca Productions for the production of his film Marudhu. The contract included a clause for 30% interest. However, Lyca later accused the actor of violating the agreement by selling the rights of Veeramae Vaagai Soodum to another company without settling the original dues. Taking note of the breach, the court criticised Vishal’s conduct and ordered him to repay the full amount with interest, totalling ₹21 crore. The ruling is being viewed as a significant financial setback for the actor.
