Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan has finally addressed the serious allegations made by his former PR manager, Vipin Kumar, who accused him of physical assault.
The allegations surfaced shortly after Vipin filed a legal complaint against the actor, claiming that Unni Mukundan attacked him, allegedly over a social media post that praised fellow Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas and his recent release, Narivetta.
Breaking his silence, the Marco actor had denied the accusations, saying there is no truth in them. In a statement to Manorama Online, Unni said there was no physical attack. He explained that he went to Kochi to meet Vipin along with Vishnu Unnithan, and the incident took place in the CCTV-monitored parking area.
Unni stated that the confrontation involved a discussion about Vipin allegedly speaking negatively about him to others. “He avoided eye contact and didn’t respond clearly. I took off his sunglasses and broke them out of frustration, but I did not physically assault him,” Unni said.
Calling the allegations baseless, the actor described them as a part of a campaign aimed at damaging his reputation. He added that he had personally spoken to Tovino Thomas to clarify the matter. Unni said, “I personally called Tovino and clarified. We’ve been friends since we entered the industry. Tovino was the one who celebrated the success of Marco with me. No false rumors can destroy our friendship.” He also revealed that he asked Vipin to issue an apology and return access to his social media accounts.
