Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan expressed concern over the growing security threat from Rohingyas in the state. He said that the Rohingyas, who had migrated from West Bengal to various parts of Andhra Pradesh in the past, have become a threat to internal security.
Speaking to the national media at the Gannavaram airport, he said that especially in 2017-18, they came to various parts of the state from Kolkata in large numbers for the profession of goldsmiths. Stating that the roots of the Rohingyas are in Myanmar, he expressed concern that the local youth are facing the problem of unemployment due to their migration.
Pawan said that the main demand is to provide jobs to locals in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. He reminded that jobs to locals are also the main slogan among the three main demands for the formation of Telangana. Pawan criticized that the Rohingyas are getting ration, Aadhaar and voter cards so that they can come from abroad and establish permanent residence here, and that they are doing jobs and businesses that should belong to our youth.
He wondered how they were getting Aadhaar, voter and ration cards? He said that it means that some people in our system are cooperating with them. Pawan Kalyan said that everyone should be aware of how the Rohingyas have become citizens of this country and are robbing us of our opportunities.
He said that just as the soldiers are protecting the country safely on the borders, it is also crucial for the police department to be constantly vigilant in internal security within the country. He said that he has written letters to the relevant officials advising the state police and administrative staff to be vigilant on this.
Pawan Kalyan warned that the southern states are a sensitive target for terrorists. He said that the terrorist attacks that took place in Coimbatore and Hyderabad in the past still make his heart skip a beat. He asked the DGP to coordinate with the administrative machinery and deal strictly with those who have traces of terrorism.
Pawan opined that if proper surveillance is maintained, especially in the case of migrants, future threats can be prevented. He also said that there is a need to increase continuous monitoring and surveillance in the coastal area, adding that there have been some reports of people coming from outside in boats in Kakinada in the past.
