Actor Vijay Deverakonda recently opened up about the challenges faced during the release of his film Taxiwala, revealing that the producers initially considered shelving the project. The decision was influenced by concerns over the film’s background score, which did not align with its genre.
Speaking during promotions for his new movie Kingdom, Vijay shared that the film’s director Rahul Sankrityan had first narrated the script with great enthusiasm, which immediately impressed him. “Every scene we shot brought joy on set, and the editing was completed smoothly,” he recalled. However, just as Taxiwala was ready for release, producers contacted him with serious concerns, leading to a meeting with veteran producer Allu Aravind in Hyderabad.
“Allu Aravind advised that the film wouldn’t work in its current form and suggested postponing the release to plan a grand launch for my next project,” Vijay said. Despite being shocked, he requested a re-evaluation of the film. Upon reviewing it again, he agreed that the background music was the main issue.
Vijay and the director then brought in music director Jakes Bejoy to rework the film’s score. “Jakes Bejoy’s background music ultimately became a key factor in the film’s success,” Vijay confirmed.
This experience highlights the critical role of music in film reception and the importance of creative adjustments even at advanced stages of production.
