The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has asked the Centre to amend the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 and named Amaravati as the capital in the Reorganisation Act. The Cabinet stated that this will give legality to Amaravati. It approved the proposal to include the name of Amaravati in the AP Reorganisation Act.
In this meeting chaired by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, it was decided to send this resolution to the Central Government. Minister Nadendla Manohar requested that the capital Amaravati be made a free zone. Several legal experts and farmers who recently met CM Chandrababu also pointed out that the capital is not named Amaravati in the 2014 Reorganisation Act.
They felt that once it is decided that the capital is Amaravati in the Reorganisation Act, it will be considered as legality for the capital. In this order, it was decided to decide that the capital is Amaravati and send it to the Centre by passing a cabinet resolution. The 2014 Reorganization Act was passed by both the Houses of Parliament.
Therefore, since they need to be amended, that is, by the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha, the Center was requested in the resolution to amend the Reorganization Act to make Amaravati the capital of AP. In this regard, it was decided to immediately talk to the MPs in Delhi and ensure that this resolution is approved in the upcoming Parliament sessions.
Along with this, the meeting discussed the allocation of lands to various organizations in AP and the allocation of lands in the recent CRDA Authority meeting in Amaravati, the capital. The Chief Minister also advised the ministers to complete the Godavari Banakacharla project. He explained to the ministers that this project is of great benefit.
The AP Cabinet congratulated the Indian Army for Operation Sindoor, which was undertaken as a retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack. On this occasion, the CM Chandrababu said that the name Sindoor touched everyone’s sentiments. The Chief Minister suggested that while naming state government schemes, names should be given that are accessible to everyone. Issues such as coastal security and precautions at defense industries were discussed.
