The Supreme Court has given a shock to the accused in the AP Liquor Scam, who are close associates of former chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy. The Apex Court has refused to grant interim protection to the accused Krishna Mohan Reddy, Dhananjaya Reddy and Balaji Govindappa in this case.
As the AP High Court refused to grant them anticipatory bail in this case, they filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the High Court verdict. A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on Thursday. Earlier the Supreme Court refused to grant interim protection to these three and adjourned the next hearing to the 13th of this month.
However, since the case related to this is pending in the High Court, a bench comprising Supreme Court Justice Pardiwala and Justice Mahadevan has ordered them to come here after the court gives its verdict there. In this order, on Wednesday, the petition filed by these three accused came up for hearing in the AP High Court. But the High Court bench refused to grant them bail.
Therefore, the three accused who came before the Supreme Court requested that they be granted interim bail due to the refusal of the High Court. Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, on behalf of the AP government, brought to the notice of the court that since the AP High Court refused to grant them bail, this petition filed in the Supreme Court while pending in the High Court is futile.
In this order, the previously filed petition should be amended or a new petition should be filed. Mukul Rohatgi said that this should not be allowed until then. The court, which agreed with Rohatgi’s arguments, said that another petition can be filed by amending the previous petition. The next hearing was adjourned to the 13th of this month.
However, the lawyers who argued on behalf of the three requested the bench to provide interim protection against arrest until the 13th. But the Supreme Court also refused to provide interim protection. The bench said that you should protect yourself until then. After filing a petition again on interim bail, the Supreme Court is likely to hold a hearing on the 13th and take a decision on interim bail.
