Stating that the central government is committed to the development of Telangana, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari announced that works worth Rs. 1.5 lakh crore has already been completed across Telangana, and national highway projects worth about Rs. 2 lakh crore will be undertaken in the state of Telangana in the next three to four years. He said that his government is working with dedication for the development of roads and national highways in the state.
He made it clear that the development of the state is possible only with the development of roads and expansion of infrastructure. He visited Telangana on Monday and inaugurated and performed the ground-breaking ceremony for several national highways, roads, underpasses and other works.
In Komaram Bheem Asifabad district Sirpur Kagaznagar, he laid the foundation stone and inaugurated national highway projects worth Rs. 3,900 crore. He dedicated to the nation the one and a half kilometer long six-lane BHEL flyover, which was constructed at a cost of Rs. 172 crore at Ashok Nagar in Patancheru constituency on the national highway connecting Sangareddy and Rangareddy.
Union Minister Gadkari also inaugurated the Amberpet flyover in Hyderabad. Union Minister Kishan Reddy, State Ministers Damodar Rajanarsimha, Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, Konda Surekha, MP Raghunandan Rao and others participated in the program.
Speaking at a public meeting organized in Kagaznagar on this occasion, Nitin Gadkari recalled that when he took charge as the minister in 2014, the length of national highways in Telangana was 2,511 kilometers, but now it has almost doubled to 5,000 kilometers. He said that during his time as a minister in Mumbai, he took up the program of providing connectivity to villages on the orders of Vajpayee when he was 33 years old. This is the current Prime Minister’s Gram Sadak Yojana, he said.
Speaking on the occasion of launching the Amberpet flyover in Hyderabad along with Union Minister Kishan Reddy, Gadkari said that the Hyderabad- Srisailam National Highway will be expanded. He said that the highway will be converted into a four-lane national highway. He said that service roads and footpaths are also being constructed and asked the state government to acquire the necessary land in six areas.
Gadkari revealed that work on new greenfield expressway and highway projects worth about Rs. 1 lakh crore is currently underway in the state. He said that if these projects are completed, the state’s economy will rebound significantly and employment opportunities for the youth will increase significantly.
He said that transportation facilities will further improve. He said that there will be benefits such as reducing congestion, making travel possible at a lower cost, and increasing logistics capacity. He explained that this will be a key step forward in the state’s infrastructure sector.
