Tamil actor Ajith Kumar has finally responded to the recent speculation regarding his possible political future, providing insight in his 33rd year in cinema. In an open media session, Ajith revealed his views on politics, his future plans, and his respect for his contemporaries.
Ajith categorically refuted any plan to enter politics, saying, “Though there are many people who think that I will try my hand in politics, I want to assure you that I have no such plans. Politics is not of interest to me.” He was clear that though there is all this speculation, his attention remains on his career in the cinema.
While ruling out a political career for himself, Ajith hoped the best for those going into politics with good intentions. “I hope success for every person who goes into politics in order to contribute positively,” he said, exhorting all those who look to bring change.
Shifting his focus to his friend and co-actor, Vijay, who recently ventured into politics by starting his own party, Ajith appreciated his move as bold. “Vijay’s foray into politics is a bold move. It takes a lot of courage, and I appreciate his resolve,” he said.
Ajith also spoke of India’s diversity in terms of the unity between its people. “India is a country of 140 crore people of varying religions and cultures living together together in harmony. It’s only because of politicians’ tireless efforts that it is possible such unification occurs,” he added.
Ajith thought of the Padma Bhushan award he received from the Rashtrapati Bhavan a few days ago and he said he admired those who had to do the work of governing. “I was amazed by the arrangements and I realized how difficult it is to manage a constituency, a state, and a country. I walked away with a renewed respect for the burden politicians have to carry,” he said.
Ajith concluded reaffirming his support to the political plunge taken by Vijay, indicating, “That’s why I regard Vijay’s entry into politics as an awe-inspiring move.”
