Taapsee Pannu Reacts to Influencer Misha Agrawal’s Suicide: “I Feared This Day Would Come”

The tragic death of social media influencer Misha Agrawal has sparked widespread discussions, with her family revealing that she died by suicide after losing followers online. Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu has reacted strongly to the incident, expressing deep concern over the growing obsession with virtual validation.

“I feared this day would come,” Taapsee wrote in an emotional post. “Seeing the current obsession with social media, I always worried that one day we would start valuing follower count more than our lives. I feared we would start chasing online affection over real love from those around us. I feared that likes and comments would begin to outweigh the degrees we’ve earned with years of hard work. It breaks my heart to see it actually happening.”

Misha Agrawal, 24, passed away on April 24. Her family announced the news via Instagram, sharing that she had studied law and dreamed of establishing a successful career. “She wanted to become a lawyer but gradually developed a passion for Instagram. Through reels and posts, she gained followers and aspired to reach the one million mark. However, in recent times, she began losing followers and was unable to cope with it. She found it difficult to refocus on her career and ended her life out of that fear,” the family’s statement read.

The incident has reignited concerns about the mental health impact of social media metrics on young users.
