Chief Secretary Shanthi Kumari Is New MCRHRD Vice Chairman, Chandrasekhar Reddy As RTI chief commissioner

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has appointed the out-going Chief Secretary Shanthi Kumar as the Vice Chairperson of the Marri Chenna Reddy Centre for Human Resource Development (MCRHRD) after her retirement. As she is retiring on Wednesday, she will take up the new assignment on the next day.

She will also hold additional responsibilities as the Director General of MCRHRD in the capacity of VC. The government has already appointed Ramakrishna Rao as the new Chief Secretary. Despite the publicity that Shanthikumari will be appointed as the Chairperson of PCB or the Chief Commissioner of Information, the government has entrusted the responsibilities of MCHRD.

Secretary at CMO and IFS officer Chandrasekhar Reddy is being appointed as Chief Information Commissioner. CM’s Chief PRO B Ayodhya Reddy also appointed as Information Commissioner. The government has reportedly sent proposals to the Governor seeking appointment of seven information commissioners.

They are, Chief Commissioner Chandrasekhar Reddy, PV Srinivasa Rao, Boreddy Ayodhya Reddy, Kappara Hariprasad, PLN Hariprasad, Ramulu, Vaishnavi, and Parveen Mohsin as Commissioners. It is learnt that the relevant file has been sent to Governor Jishnu Dev Verma.

Officials revealed that orders will be issued after the Governor’s approval. It is noteworthy that three of the seven commissioners are journalists. No appointment of commissioners related to the implementation of RTI has been made since February 2023.

Meanwhile, Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Principal Secretary, Energy Department, has issued orders appointing two members to the Telangana Electricity Regulatory Commission. He said that Kancharla Raghu has been appointed as the Technical Member and Cherukuri Srinivasa Rao as the Finance Member of the Electricity Regulatory Commission.

The order stated that these two members will be considered for a period of five years or till they complete the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier. Devaraju Nagarjuna recently took charge as the Chairman of the Telangana Electricity Regulatory Commission.
