Nandyal TDP MP Dr. Byreddy Sabari, who is known for her proactive initiatives, made a stir at midnight. On Wednesday midnight, two godowns in the district claimed to be owned by the YCP leaders were raided and seized by the police in her presence, after finding illegal stocks of ration rice. The raids were conducted under the leadership of Civil Supply State Director Mahesh Naidu.
500 quintals of rice illegally stored in Gorukallu Thanda village of Katasani Rambhupal Reddy in Panyam mandal of the district and 1000 quintals of ration rice illegally stored in Tammaraju Palle village of Panyam mandal of the same constituency were seized. The YCP party is alleged to have a good hold in these two villages.
The MP was shocked to see the ration rice in the godowns of the YCP party. Speaking on the occasion, Sabari expressed surprise that even after a year of the formation of the coalition government, the illegal ration rice racket of the YCP leaders was continuing. She warned that strict action will be taken against YCP leaders, who were involved in it and no one will be spared.
Dr Sabari ordered the officials to inquire about the location of any illegal rice godowns in the district. She lamented that YSRCP leaders have looted people’s money for the last five years. She expressed her anger at the officials, and wondered why they did not know if the ration rice was in these godowns for all these years.
According to the information she received, she called the officials even at midnight and realized that the ration rice that was circulating would disappear in a moment, so she went to the godowns and personally checked with the officials. 1500 quintals of ration rice seized by Panyam MRO.
In these lightning raids, the officials who opened the locks of the godowns were stunned to see the illegal rice stockpiles. The police and Civil Supply officials have registered a case and are investigating.
