Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has instructed officials to start work to establish multi-specialty hospitals with a capacity of 100 to 300 beds in every constituency in the state. Out of the total 175 constituencies, there are already 70 hospitals with a capacity of more than 100 beds, and he said that urgent steps should be taken to ensure the construction of multi-specialty hospitals in the remaining 105 constituencies.
He said that a plan should be made to build and operate hospitals on a PPP basis, and a policy should be formulated to provide subsidies to the companies that come forward for this on the lines of industries. The Chief Minister, who conducted a review of the Health Department at the Secretariat, said that medical services should be further expanded in the state.
He said that steps should be taken to establish a Mega Global MediCity Project in Amaravati andi should be developed at an international level so that all countries of the world come to Amaravati for treatment. He told the officials to provide the best medical services in the state with the support of the Gates Foundation.
He wanted to ensure that patients receive basic services through virtual mode when doctors are not available at the PHC and CHC levels. The Chief Minister also reviewed the cancer screening process. In addition to strengthening 25 drug de-addiction centers with Rs. 32.5 crore, he clarified in the meeting that 13 new drug de-addiction centers would be established.
Chandrababu Naidu also issued guidelines on filling medical vacancies in PHCs in the agency area, setting up 8 new dialysis centers in Vizianagaram, increasing dialysis machines in NTR, Vizianagaram and Bapatla districts, upgrading Kovvur-Nidadavolu CHCs and other issues.
The Chief Minister inquired about the progress of the Digital Nerve Center, an innovative healthcare program developed by Tata Consultancy Services, which is being implemented in Kuppam. Officials said that the Digital Nerve Center will help provide healthcare using a digital platform. The state has issued Abha cards to 4.47 crore people (88 percent), the highest in the country.
