Despite having stepped aside from active politics, ex-YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MP Vijayasai Reddy is caught in legal controversy. The Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID) has again called him for questioning over the Kakinada Port case. The newest notice asks him to report to officials on March 25, marking another key development in the ongoing investigation.
The charges against Vijayasai Reddy are based on allegations that in the YSRCP government, he is accused of forcing Kakinada Port owner K. Veera Raju to transfer shares to his family members. Apart from this, the CID has associated him with anomalies in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) dealings, adding heat to the probe.
Earlier, Vijayasai Reddy and five others were mentioned in the case. During his interrogation by the CID earlier, he had denied any role in the transfer of the port stake. Instead, he had reportedly said that the transactions were dealt with by YSRCP MP Y.V. Subbareddy’s son Vikranth Reddy. He also told the same to the media after his interrogation.
As the CID tightens its noose around the investigation, there is greater speculation about what is to follow. Will Vijayasai Reddy hold to his previous defense, or will fresh facts emerge? The case has already created intense political and legal controversies, and all attention is now on his next appearance before the authorities.
