The coalition government led by Chandrababu Naidu has taken a key decision on the change of the name of YSR district. It has been decided to change the name of the district to YSR Kadapa from now on. THe cabinet meeting was held in Amaravati on Monday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

In this meeting, the cabinet decided to add the name Kadapa to YSR district. With this, YSR district will now be considered as YSR Kadapa district. Previously, the district had the name YSR Kadapa. In this meeting, the cabinet decided to add the name Kadapa to YSR district. With this, YSR district will now be considered as YSR Kadapa district. Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy served as the Chief Minister of the united Andhra Pradesh for two terms. However, during his second term as Chief Minister, he died in a helicopter crash on September 2, 2009.

In this context, the Congress government in the then united Andhra Pradesh decided to change the name of YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s home district, Kadapa district, to YSR Kadapa district. However, in the 2019 assembly elections, YCP chief and YSR’s son YS Jagan came to power.

With this, not only the schemes undertaken by the government, but also many institutions were named after YSR. In that order, the name of YSR Kadapa district was changed. Kadapa was removed from it. With this, it became a YSR district.

However, the coalition government decided to change YSR Kadapa district in the cabinet meeting. Kadapa district has a rich history since the British era. The name of Kadapa district has existed for many centuries. There was widespread criticism for removing such a name and leaving only the name of YSR. At such a time, the coalition government led by Chandrababu Naidu took this decision.
