Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu announced that a 58-foot-tall statue of Sri Potti Sriramulu, who sacrificed his life for 58 days for the formation of Andhra Pradesh, will be installed in the capital city of Amaravati. He said that efforts will be made to complete the construction of this statue by the next birth anniversary.
A memorial will also be set up in Amaravati itself. Similarly, he said that Potti Sriramulu’s hometown in Padamatipally will be transformed into a museum, and a health center and a high school building with modern facilities will be constructed in the village.
He promised to build a bridge over the Buckingham Canal as per the request of the villagers. CM Chandrababu Naidu participated in the birth anniversary celebrations of Sri Potti Sriramulu held at his Undavalli residence. He garlanded his statue and paid tributes.
“We are working to make Andhra Pradesh, which was formed with the sacrifice of Potti Sriramulu, number one by 2047. A memorial trust to be set up in his name. It would be good if his fans and the society come forward and set up a trust to remember the sacrifices”, he said.
He recalled that they are the ones who named Nellore district after Potti Sriramulu. “Today, we have entered the 125th birth anniversary celebrations. We will organize 12 types of programs, one every month until March 16 next year. By then, the 125th birth anniversary celebrations will be completed”, he added.
The Chief Minister said that they are implementing the P4 system from this Ugadi. If this is successful, he is hopeful that there will be stability in the society.
“We are building big buildings. But the people next door do not even have a house. We are all born equal. But after studying, some take advantage of the opportunities and others go to unexpected levels. Those who live in villages stay there. That is why the poor should be brought up” he said.
Chandrababu said that in the next 5 years, the government will take initiatives to eradicate poverty without any difficulty to increase the living standards of everyone. Stating that there are poor people among the Vaishyas too, he advised that everyone should work for the welfare of the society and carry forward the spirit of Potti Sriramulu.
