The comments made by both Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and his brother, newly elected MLC Nagababu’s at Jana Sena’s 12th Foundation Day on Friday evening, have been evoking severe uproar among TDP cadre.
While, Pawan Kalyan tried to project himself undisputed leader in the state claiming at his mercy only the 40-year’s old TDP survived and return to power in the last year’s elections, Nagababu claimed that it was on his own image and strength Pawan Kalyan was elected from Pithapuram to the state assembly.
Forgetting the fact that in 2019 elections his party was miserably defeated and only one MLA was election, who was also later defected into YSRCP, Pawan Kalyan hardly tried to project the `united strength’ of the TDP-led coalition helped for the historic success of his party, by winning all the seats it contested.
The fact that more than half of elected MLAs and MPs from his party defected into the party just at the time of election and most of them hail from TDP. Hardcore Jana Sainiks were denied seats in several places giving prominence to the `new entries’.
It is also known that Pawan Kalyan, who lost in two places he contested in the 2019 elections, contested from Pithapuram constituency as part of an alliance in the last elections, mostly expecting a strong political base of the TDP there will help him. Initially, the sitting TDP MLA Varma refused to give up his seat for Pawan Kalyan, but he was pacified by TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu.
At that time Verma was promised that he would give him the first chance in the upcoming MLC elections after winning. In the developments that followed, soon after his winning from there Pawan Kalyan went to Verma’s house in Pithapuram and announced in the presence of the media that he had put his victory in his hands.
Moreover, Pawan Kalyan announced that not only Verma, Verma’s son also worked well for him. But now Naga Babu claimed in the Jana Sena Jayaketanam rally that if anyone thinks that he contributed to Pawan Kalyan’s victory here at the Pithapuram venue, it is their karma. He made it clear that the key to the victory in Pithapuram is only Pawan Kalyan, the voters here and the Jana Sainiks.
TDP cadres are expressing extreme intolerance on social media over Naga Babu’s comments. In the backdrop of the speculations that TDP denied MLC seat to Verma due to pressures from Jana Sena, his comments are complicating political equations.
