AP PCP President YS Sharmila Reddy expressed her anger over the imposition of conditions for free bus travel. She objected to the state government stating that women from any district are eligible for free travel in that district only. She tweeted to this effect on her X account. She was furious that the coalition government was acting like a boat until it crossed the river.
Sharmila criticized that they had won votes by promising free travel in RTC buses for women, and now it is cruel to apply conditions. “It is a fraud to say that the free bus travel scheme for women is limited to the district level. Such excuses are being made without sincerity to implement it. This is what it means to take a U-turn at the very beginning”, she added.
Sharmila deplored that even after 9 months of forming the government, they have been delaying the time in the name of committees without providing free bus travel. Moreover, she said that they have been touring the states and taking excursions.
This government, which has imposed so many rules before the implementation of the scheme, when the scheme is implemented tomorrow, will it be free up to the constituency and mandal limits?, she asked. Sharmila clarified that in the states of Telangana and Karnataka, where the Congress government is in power, women have free travel throughout the state.
She recalled that everything is free from anywhere to anywhere in Palle Velugu and Express buses. Just show your Aadhaar card, No matter how far, there is a zero ticket, she explained.
“The coalition government is still not in the mood to implement such a good scheme and a promise that will benefit women at the lowest cost. The government does not have the courage to give Rs. 350 crore per month to the RTC for women”, she alleged.
Should we also look at the benefits and drawbacks of providing security to women?, she asked. “The Congress party is demanding that the coalition government provide free travel to women immediately and that there should be free travel facilities throughout the state on behalf of women,” Sharmila tweeted.
