AP DGP Harish Kumar Gupta said that they are cracking down on the illegal sale of ganja in the state and warned the properties of the criminals involved will be seized. Police officials destroyed the ganja and narcotics seized in Krishna district at Jindal Waste Management Plant in Edlapadu mandal of Palnadu district on Saturday evening.
Officials said that 3,737 kg of ganja worth Rs. 1.85 crore was destroyed in the presence of DGP Harish Kumar Gupta, IG Ake Ravi Krishna, and Eluru Range IG GVG. Ashok Kumar. The police seized 3,737 kg of ganja and 4.22 kg of liquid ganja in 183 cases in four sub-divisions of Krishna district.
Speaking at a press conference on this occasion, DGP Harish Kumar Gupta explained that special attention has been paid to the control of ganja in coordination with the police, excise and Eagle departments. For this, awareness seminars are being held in all colleges in the name of transformation.
He said that an Eagle organization has been formed and surveillance has been put on ganja gangs. He said that awareness seminars are being held for students to prevent the youth from becoming addicted to drugs and surveillance has been put on inter-state gangs.
Stating that AP will be made a ganja -free state, the DGP said that ganja cultivation in the state is completely under control. However, he said that a large amount of ganja is coming from Odisha and surveillance has been kept on the Odisha borders. He said that inter-state gangs transporting ganja are being caught.
DGP said that those selling marijuana at colleges are being arrested. He appealed not to transport and sell ganja and assured that security is being given to those who ask for it. He said that tribals are being made aware not to take up ganja cultivation and they are also being trained on the cultivation of other crops. He said that strict action will be taken against those who supply ganja and drugs and the punishment will be severe.
