TDP MLC candidates worry over Its Failure To postpone Group-2 Exams on Sunday

TDP MLC candidates in Andhra Pradesh, who are giving tough fight to PDF candidates in the graduate MLC elections, are now worried over the revolt among unemployed youth over the controversy surrounding Group-2 test, being held on Sunday.

Despite strong opposition from the unemployed, the APPSC is going ahead conducting the Group-2 exam on Sunday. It officially announced this on Saturday evening. There was uncertainty whether the exam will be held or not until Saturday afternoon. There were reports in the media that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also mentioned that he himself had told the APPSC to postpone the exam.

TDP candidates contesting the MLC elections widely circulated on social media that the exam was postponed on their initiative. With this, the opinion was expressed among Group-2 candidates across the state that the exam would not be held on Sunday. However, unexpectedly on Saturday evening, the APPSP announced that the Group-2 exam would be held on Sunday itself.

Unemployed people across the state are upset with this unexpected announcement. A large number of people took to the roads in Visakhapatnam to protest and staged a dharna. The agitation continued till 10 pm. There were reports of protests in several districts across the state. Moreover, this controversy has been reflecting the poor image on the efficiency of the government in taking quick decisions.

Group-2 candidates have been protesting seeking postponement of the exam. Graduate MLC elections will be held on the 27th of this month in Krishna-Guntur and both Godavari districts. In these two constituencies, the alliance candidates are facing a tough fight with PDF leaders. At the same time, the Group-2 exam controversy is becoming an unpleasant surprise for PDF candidates.

The candidates have gone to court to cancel the main exam due to errors in the roster points regarding Group-2. The government has also admitted that there were errors in the roster. However, it has adopted an indifferent attitude in taking the steps demanded by the unemployed.

Finally, the state government’s Chief Secretary wrote a letter to the APPSC to postpone the exam, but there was no result. The commission replied that the exam would be held as per the previously announced schedule since there was no court order to postpone the exam. There are more than 92,000 Group-2 candidates across the state.
