Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said that the telemetry system is the solution to prevent Andhra Pradesh from transferring more water than the fixed quota. However, officials complained that the AP government is not coming forward to pay half of the funds required for the implementation of the telemetry system.
Revanth Reddy conducted a review on the water storage in projects and the release of irrigation water for crops in the state. The CM said that the Telangana government will pay all the funds required for the implementation of the telemetry system first and ordered the Principal Secretary of the Irrigation Department, Rahul Bojja, to immediately take necessary steps for the implementation of telemetry and write a letter to the Krishna Board.
He made it clear that the responsibility of distributing water shares and calculating the use of water shares lies with the Central Water Commission, and the Central Government should be held responsible to ensure that the AP should not draw more water than the fixed share. He asked the officials to immediately complain to the center about AP unilateral drawing of more water.
Revanth Reddy suggested that water should be released as planned for crops under various projects in the state and appropriate precautions should be taken by making an early assessment of the difficult conditions that may arise as the sun rises. He instructed the senior officials of the irrigation department to be vigilant for the next three months and that the officials should visit the field level from time to time and inspect the situation.
He advised that solutions should be adopted according to the conditions and that all necessary precautions should be taken so that farmers do not suffer and crops do not dry up. He instructed that the water currently available in the projects should be used efficiently and steps should be taken to ensure that there is no problem with irrigation and drinking water anywhere.
The Chief Minister said that the demand for electricity will increase significantly and that the district collectors should take special initiatives to provide drinking and irrigation water to the people without any problem. He instructed the collectors to immediately hold meetings with the relevant officials and prepare district-wise plans, and to personally inspect the crops and water release pattern in projects, canals, and ayacuts.
