CM Chandrababu says steps should Be Taken To Restore 34 percent BC Reservations In Local Bodies

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to take necessary steps to restore 34 percent reservation for BCs in local bodies as promised during the elections, and if necessary, legal action will be taken to this end. Conducting a review with the BC welfare department, he said that funds should be allocated proportionately to each corporation.

CM Chandrababu ordered that steps be taken to expedite the investigation against those who killed BCs and take strict action to punish the accused. He said that this issue has also been included in his manifesto and that a special commission will also be formed if necessary.

He said that he is committed to the promise given during the elections to abolish GST on handlooms and that procedures have already been formulated for this. He said that the BC Protection Act will be implemented as soon as the sub-committee report comes.

He recalled that the TDP government in the state between 2014-19 sanctioned 13 Kapu buildings in district centers and that the construction of 5 buildings was started, while the previous government stopped the rest. He said that when the coalition government came to power, funds were released to complete the construction.

The CM also ordered the speedy completion of the 42 Kapu community halls that are under construction. The CM said that the steps taken by the government for BC students should bring about clear changes and accountability for the expenditure made by the government should be seen. He ordered that the repairs undertaken in 660 government hostels in the state at a cost of Rs 13.10 crores should be completed within another 6 weeks.

The CM said that the focus should be on repairing the Dobi Ghats built between 2014-19 in the state and constructing new ones where necessary to benefit the Rajaks. He ordered that the BC buildings in the state be completed with the funds allocated in the budget.

He ordered that information be collected from those who have benefited from the BC Corporation since 2014 and that an audit be conducted to see how many of those who have taken loans on professional grounds are currently continuing their work.
