Strongly refuting YCP leaders’ accusations against the coalition government, TDP parliamentary party leader Lavu Srikrishnadevaraya lamented that there was no real development during their five year’s regime. Before making accusations, he advised them to realize what they have done during their government.
He said that the coalition government will always welcome if they came forward with any constructive suggestions on the governance, but advised him to restrain from making criticisms without any base. He said there is nothing wrong for a government to take loans, but the question is how they are spending and whether they are creating any assets.
The Narasaraopet MP said that the NITI Aayog report exposed the financial trauma of the YSRCP regime. He recalled that out of every Rs 1000 borrowed between 2019 and 2024, only Rs 24 was spent on infrastructure.
He said the NITI Aayog report states that if all 18 big states were taken into consideration, Andhra Pradesh came 17th among them. While revenue growth was 17 percent in the 2018- 2019 financial year, it fell to 8.9 percent between 2022- 2023. Similarly, MP Lau Srikrishnadevaraya explained, along with statistics, that Andhra Pradesh’s debt increased by 16 percent every year between 2018 and 2023.
During the YCP regime, he stated that only three out of the total 17 medical colleges were under construction and funds allocated by the Center for Jal Shakti were not spent. Alleging that the education policy of the previous government was a terrible one, he said due to the lack of infrastructure and recruitment of teachers, 12 lakh students left government schools and joined private schools.
He said that the state government has already asked the Center to provide the required funds from Godavari to Penna. He stated that the AP Reorganization Act provides for the provision of metro facilities to Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada. He also said that they had asked for 2,369 PMS schools, but only 530 schools were given.
